ShoutCast Streaming 

ShoutCast consists of a client-server model, with each component communicating via a network protocol that intermingles audio data with metadata such as song titles and the station name.

From your home PC a broadcast stream is sent to one of our servers where it is re-broadcast out to all of your listeners.

The benefits of using our servers over using your home PC as a Shoutcast server is if you have a 512k uplink, then you can only host about 4 listeners before the stream will start to buffer.

We have massive amounts of bandwidth and can handle many more listeners than a home PC.

Choose Your Streaming Bit Rate

The higher the bitrate, the better quality of sound your listeners will enjoy.

24k / 32k - Generally a dial up listener can listen to a stream that broadcasts between 8kbs and 32kbs without experiencing buffering depending on the individual listeners connection.

56k / 64k / 96k / 128k - Broadband listeners can listen to audio streams at a much higher bitrate. The highest bitrate recommended to stream music to broadband listeners is 128kbs. Why? Music CD's are recorded at 128kbs. Any streaming above this bitrate is just a waste of your bandwidth. Of course you can choose any rate between 8kbs and 128kbs to stream to broadband.
