What is VPS ?

VPS stands for Virtual Private Server. It is functionally equivalent to a separate physical computer, is dedicated to the individual customer's needs, has the privacy of a separate physical computer, and can be configured to run as a server computer (i.e. to run server software).

VPS plans can be completely customized to match your specific streaming needs and upgraded anytime as your site grows. It's a great way to start small but still have the ability to scale up very quickly.

Why do people need a VPS for Broadcasting ?

The beauty of a VPS is that it allows you to install your broadcasting software and MP3 songs on the server and broadcast like it is at you house. The good news is that it is at a Data Center which is closely monitored and unlike your home PC, has extremely high up-time.

Broadcasters will put on Spacial Audio's SAM and / or Station Playlist (SPL) on the server and it is just like running it from home. All PAL scripts, clock wheels, data bases (mySQL or FireBird), etc. will run exactly like at your home PC.

What is the operating system on the VPS ?

We offer several flavors of Linux at no cost or optionally Windows 2008. SAM and SPL require a Windows installation to work.

How long does it take to set up ?

We set you up within 48 hours. We will help you get your broadcasting software transferred and working. MP3 files are uploaded by the FTP Client, Filezilla.
